The style changes can apply to the ATbar itself as shown in the picture above, just to the text and link colours or the whole page where both text and colour background can be changed with a linearisation of the page.

Step-by-step

Toolbar colour

  1. Launch ATbar from your browser toolbar
  2. Select the paint palette menu button and change toolbar colour
  3. Select the colour required or allow a random set of colours to occur by repeatedly selecting the random button.
  4. Select Set once you are happy with the chosen colour.
  5. Select Reset to Defaults if you wish to return to the original light grey colour.
  6. CLOSE (X) the dialog box

Link colour

  1. Launch ATbar from your browser toolbar
  2. Select the paint palette menu button and change text and link colours
  3. Select the Text Colour required or select the Link Colour required.
  4. Select Apply once you are happy with the chosen colour.
  5. CLOSE (X) the dialog box

  1. Launch ATbar from your browser toolbar
  2. Select the paint palette menu button and change page style
  3. Select the colour of the text on the background e.g.Black on Yellow or Yellow on Black for a high contrast mode.
  4. The colours will change as will the look of the web page as it is linearised for easier screen reading
  5. It is possible to revert to the original look and feel of the website by selecting the blue arrow at the end of the ATbar. This will refresh the web page and you may need to reload ATbar.

Points to Remember

The idea of changing the style of a web page is that might help some readers to see the print more clearly and for those using a screen reader it may make reading the text aloud easier.

For some readers these changes may not necessarily be as helpful as having a colour wash over the entire page without any style changes. This requires a different plug-in.

Not all web pages respond to the ATbar controls especially when there is Adobe Flash or text as graphics and other inaccessible text. It is not always possible to change a Style sheet (web development)
